The 968 was the final revision of Porsche’s front engine 4 cylinder water cooled sports cars. Porsche went to great lengths to improve the 968 from the 944 S2 from the sprung and rubber damped flywheel to absorb the buzzing and tremors characteristic of the big 3.0L 4cyl and the new 6 speed trans-axle over the 944’s 5 speed. This was also the return of exposed headlights to go online with the rest of the model range at the time. The 968 revised the 3.0 engine with better valve springs, forged connecting rods, and added oil sprayers to cool the pistons. Touted as being the “World’s Best-Handling Car” in 1993 the 968 is one of the best 4 cylinder sports cars on the market.
